The Holistic Education Fair (HEF) is an opportunity to share, learn, and inspire the development of an ecosystem for education at the Block level by engaging Teachers, Students, Government, and Nonprofits. It aims to highlight the essential role of Contextual learning materials, TLMs, and innovations in pedagogy to enhance the Learning Environment in a classroom and school. The fair is an opportunity for teachers and students to showcase their innovative teaching and learning materials (TLMs), teaching practices, and presentation skills, creating a cohesive, knowledge-driven environment with the support of their peers, experts, and officials.

In September 2025, Samanta Foundation, in collaboration with the Education Department, Haridwar, organized the 2nd Holistic Education Fair, inviting 40 schools from two clusters of Laldhang and Shyampur to participate and showcase TLMs on themes of Science, Mathematics, and Language.

The objective of the fair was to:

  • Promote experiential, child-centered learning through creative and contextual TLMs.

  • Provide children with a platform to showcase their learning and build confidence.

  • Encourage teacher innovation and the use of local materials.

  • Involve parents and the community in supporting holistic education.

The larger purpose of the fair is to build an ecosystem of learning where innovative and practical teaching pedagogies are promoted to build learners’ interest in education. It also aligns with the objectives of NEP 2020 to shift from rote memorization and traditional teaching practices to practical and child-centric teaching practices such as projects, stories, theatre, art, etc.

The fair witnessed an encouraging participation of 101 students with 51 teachers from 26 schools, including Upper primary schools and Inter colleges from two clusters. We were joined by 5 peer organizations who showcased their innovative TLMs and learning materials that allowed us to bring impactful work happening in various geographies. The presentation of TLM was a wonderful sight to experience the confidence and articulation skills of children, which was acknowledged and encouraged by Mr. Brijpal Singh Rathore, BEO (Bahadrabad).

The fair concluded by announcing winners across three themes.

The success of the fair led to a confidence boost for children and motivated them to come forward and take the stage to express and believe in their capacities.

Impact and Outcomes

  • Ecosystem Impact- The fair helps us to provide a platform for innovative teaching and learning practices, which promote holistic learning and understanding of children. Additionally, the schools that present their work at the fair have an enhanced learning environment in their schools and classrooms, which benefits all the children.

  • 21st century skills: The fair gives an opportunity to children to share and express their knowledge and test their presentation skills around their model/TLMs.

  • Inclusive education: TLMs are an integral part of the pedagogic shift that the NEP 2020 has outlined to make education engaging and participative for children.

  • Peer Learning: The children and teachers at the fair engaged in experiencing TLMs of other schools, which cultivated conversation around the depositions it caters to and the thought processes behind creating a learning material.

The 2nd Holistic Education Fair successfully showcased how experiential, child-led, and creative learning transforms education into a joyful process. Despite minor logistical delays, the event met its core objectives and strengthened collaboration between schools, teachers, parents, and education officials.

Samanta Foundation remains committed to advancing holistic and experiential learning, and plans are underway for the 3rd edition in 2026.
